LeadNow
tomorrow morning before the sun comes up, Bethany and i are heading to reading, pa for a simulcast of the LeadNow conference. i first heard about this conference in the late spring. the primary focus is ministry leaders of 20’s-30’s/young adult ministry. the cool thing about this is that it’s a three day conference in the country of texas, but they get churches around the country to host a one day simulcast of the event. we’re considering being a host site for this next fall; there are only two other churches in pa hosting this year. we’re trying to be more of a teaching church for other ministries and i think this has great potential for our region.
so we’re going tomorrow not just to attend, but to see just how the host church & leaders pull it off. i’ve been involved in planning a bunch of different events before, but nothing like this. really hoping to get some good take-aways from this tomorrow. it’ll also be great having lunch with the host church’s young adult pastor and connect with someone else on our team.
i’ll post some thoughts & notes about the conference here & on Twitter if i can get connected tomorrow!
college ministry thoughts
- i’ve been considering for a couple of weeks now hosting a particular simulcast event for ministry leaders of young adults @ our church. it seems like a sweet thing, but it just doesn’t seem like the time is right for it. instead, i’m going to head to another church that is simulcasting the same event and learning how they do it and see if we can look to do it next year.
- had a great brainstorming time about some events for next fall that could be city-wide and include both our local colleges. i’m really pumped about this.
- getting ready to start our first official college small group!
- are there any readers of this blog who lead a college and/or young adult ministry?
college//young adult ministry leadership roundtable
a few months ago it was on my heart to connect with other folks that are leading college aged & young adult ministries. it began as inspiration and a longing for something that doesn’t exist. so the past few weeks have been a time of scoping it out and seeing if there were people that shared this, too.
now it’s going to happen, and i’m pumped. for a day at the breaking of july, other ministry leaders from around pennsylvania & new jersey (they need Jesus, too) are going to gather here in williamsport. a day of connecting, visioning, questioning, learning, and eating. i’m capping it at 12 people, and there are already seven people committed! pray for us, and the next weeks of preparation. and if you’re a college/young adult ministry leader or know one in the PA, NJ, NY, MD region, let me know if you’d like to be a part of this, too!
hitting the road
About two months ago I was hoping to make a trip down to State College to spend time with some friends. Today I’m doing that again. There’s something special about having friends who always allow to to walk away from an encounter with them changed. Looking forward to talking some college ministry ideas with Aaron, methodism with Matt, and maybe even middle school with Stac; and to spend time with my friends.
Who are those people for you?
