prep for tonight

spending the morning prepping for tonight and doing a bit of brainstorming. sr. high tonight is going to be looking at Jesus as a shepherd, how he shepherds us, and then how we can imitate that through mentoring/shepherding others. it’s spring break in state college, and i know a number of our regular kids are out of town/vacationing/etc. it’s been a good series so far – i’m really enjoying teaching it.

knowing that we’re going to have a smaller group and our musical time of worship can be hit or miss with a smaller group, i’ve been thinking on non-music oriented worship experiences. i’ve done some of the experiential worship stations before, but those also seem to be more large group effective. i don’t necessarily want to turn our time together into an uber-structured time with craft time, but it doesn’t always need to look the same anyway. there is definitely a balance between information and structure; you’ll miss more kids every time if the skew is too far off…they really do compliment each other. definitely something to get some thoughts flowing out of me on a wed. morning.
