tough week

this past week has been one of the toughest i’ve had in ministry. i’ve been feeling it in ministry, emotionally, even physically. coming off our middle school retreat, it was a good weekend, but i’m absolutely exhausted. partner that with a handful of student and leader issues i have to deal with, and a mess of other things – it’s taking a toll.

right now i’m in a lull between two meetings i had this morning and an afternoon of prep for week two of our middle school series, 5enses, tomorrow. hopefully thursday may prove to be a day of rest; i realized this morning it’s actually been a few weeks since i’ve actually take a full day away from ministry. my discipline of taking a sabbath hasn’t been great, and it’s time to step it up in taking care of that more.

what do you do to unplug and recharge?

    as i suggested earlier, there would’ve been nothing to stop me from taking today and tomorrow away from work to play xbox or do a house project…

    part 2 of fivenses would’ve been a topic appropriate nooma…

    My idea of unplugging and recharging is a solid nap. The kind that ends up rolling into your night’s sleep only broken by a 10pm sleepy snack raid of the fridge. But that’s just me.

    @ spence
    i used a nooma for sound last week, and i would’ve felt like a bum pulling two in a week. just don’t expect to see me around thur or fri

    @adri
    i’m hoping the end of this week might lend itself to some sweet nap-age. i think you should write a children’s book titled ‘sleepy snack raid’. just saying.

    A glass of merlot and a hot bubble bath… Relax’n to the point that you get out and nap…Wonderful solution to the toughest weeks.
